The Rager - Elimination Chamber

Image
Hope everybody enjoyed the PPV last night, here are my thoughts: 1. Lets go ahead and get this out the way, I can't stand Booker T on commentary, he believes everybody gets hurt from every move and over-uses the cliche machine. Its like listening to Busta Rhymes do commentary if...you know... Busta forgot how to use words. He's WWE's Randy Jackson. Bring back Matt Stryker, please. 2. The Kofi/Del Rio match turned out to be exactly what most of us thought it would be, a tune-up match to keep Del Rio busy until his Wrestlemania match. I will say that I thought Alberto would put away Kofi a lot easier than he did but it really changes nothing. 3. The Smackdown Elimination Chamber was ok, I thought Wade Barrett really should've been in longer but both he and Drew McIntyre had strong outings. Big Show being the replacement for Ziggles' spot was pretty predictable and not at all necessary, the rivalry really isn't between him and the Corre, its him and Ezekial Jackson

The Rager - Elimination Chamber Predictions

Image
The time has come once again for contributors to The Rager offer up their predictions for Elimination Chamber. So lets get right to it: Alberto Del Rio vs. Kofi Kingston Dr. Chris - So this match really only serves a couple purposes. First of which is its a card-filler for a Pay Per View and secondly, it gives Del Rio something to do before his Championship match at Wrestlemania. I don't see Kofi having any chances...at all. Winner - Alberto Del Rio Joel - Why is this match exist? Is there a belt up for grabs? I am unclear. As it stands, del Rio is currently slated to have a Wrestlemania match for the belt. If you want to have people believe that our pal Al has a chance at winning the heavyweight title then you can’t have him loose to the IC champion just one PPV earlier. Prediction: Albert. Tag Team Championship: Santino and Kozlov(c) vs. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater Dr. Chris - WWE has to do something with Corre other than pushing a Ezekial Jackson and Big Show m

Wonder Woman?

I am currently very confused by the most recent developments with the new David E. Kelly version of the Wonder Woman TV show. I can only hope Kelly knows exactly what he's doing. Earlier today, cementing the fact that this is actually happening, the lead actress was cast. Personally, she looks way too young to be a corporate executive. But then, such is Hollywood. However, in the mix of that news, stranger news was also announced. It seems that it won't just be Diana Price and Wonder Woman. Someone named Diana Themyscria is also around. In my quest to understand this very confusing plot point I may have found some answers which ease my concerns a bit. Initially I was concerned Kelly would turn Diana Price/Wonder Woman into an antisocial workaholic who spend all her time working or fighting evil. Workaholic women with no time for a family or meaningful male companionship is a tired trope and it's not like Ally McBeal and its hallucinogenic dancing baby did anything

The Rager - Raw Thoughts 2/14/11

Image
Welcome back, my sticky Ragers, to everyone's favorites somewhat weekly random thoughts of Monday Night Raw: VD edition. This edition of Raw has a major surprise, as referred to in the last Rager entry, but more on that later. Lets roll: 1. The opening shindig between John Cena and CM Punk was alright, the Nexus interference by supplying the wrench felt a little campy (ooo a mysterious arm with Nexus band extends from under the ring slowly with a wrench). I'm ready to see these two fight without outside interference, its long overdue and I'm hoping we get that soon after the feud between Punk and Orton is done (which I almost forgot completely about because Punk has been facing Cena so much). 2. They're still continuing Smackdown stories on Raw now? Really? I mean, I get that they're trying to convince people to watch a non-sci-fi show on a channel thats dedicated to the genre, especially the big 600th episode thats so big that it'll feature Raw superstars bec

The Rager Smells What The Rock is Cooking

Ladies and gentlemen, He. Is Back. I honestly can't believe it. I spent all week dreading the Wrestlemania host announcement fearing a major letdown. I have even come to expect that whenever something in WWE is hyped the ending outcome never seems to match the level of the hype. I can tell you last week when I learned that there was a big announcement that ended up simply being an announcement of an announcement, I turned to those that I watch Raw with and said "The only thing that can justify this amount of hype would be the Return of the Rock." Well WWE, my hat is off to you. This time you really have come through and I couldn't be more ecstatic. I would like to take a moment and ask all WWE wrestlers to watch the promo that the Rock cut tonight. Get a tape, watch it, memorize it, study it. This my friends is how you cut a promo. In seconds it was as if he had never left. Catchphrases were back and he had the crowd eating out of his hand. He spoke about both The Miz

Obligatory Nerdy Valentines Post!

Valentine's Day is the other candy-obsessed holiday (hello Halloween and Christmas!) that is also obsessed with cards. It starts with those little card things we get in elementary school and goes from there. I would imagine more is spent on cards for this holiday than most other holidays. The more specifically tailored a card is to the receiver's individual preferences the better a card is. This goes for us nerds too. The more romantic and crafty of nerds make nerdy valentines. Then because they're nerds after all, they post them to the internet for all of us to see. Here are some examples. These lovely cards are inspired by 24 and LOST. This is my favorite, is it not perfect? https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmGQCzpLddrUyOWoD_UAvNOkA5LjGtYnHHFrPNmD7VMsrOlwn_Nz6ObQjYCqe-O7Iut4BJA9mbkto4AkAoBMq_Nffo21qwGP4gYShUnLWNbIdjLoedzbMLfSrx06OviK0wqJfNJesO11Y/s1600-h/LockeJack.png The rest are here. http://jennyology.blogspot.com/2010/01/tv-valentin

An Overly Detailed Look at: The X-Men First Class trailer

Image
X2 came out in 2003. That's going on eight years since this franchise was at its peak (or was even any good as some would say) I personally, am willing to give the Wolverine Origins movie a little slack (those it is not without its problems) and X-Men 3 usually causes a mad scramble for the remote whenever it appears on FX. So, I am torn between hoping that this movie will save the franchise that I was promised back in 2003 when I first saw X2, and just hoping that this won't be that disaster that we saw come after. Most likely were going to get something in the middle but for now what we do have is a trailer. I am really enjoying this intro. The history between Professor X and Magneto has long been one of the most interesting stories in the Marvel universe and while the comics may have turned that into a confusing family tree, the movie universe still has that time period shrouded in mystery so I'm looking forward to what route this movie takes. The Rager - RAW 1/31/11

Image
With all that has been happening in the WWE universe these past few days, there’s a whole lot to cover so I’m stepping in to help with this weeks Rager column to tell you about all the fun and excitement that we had on the latest episode of Raw. We start the evening off with a celebration of Al de Rio as he brings out a whole mariachi band to help celebrate his rumble win last night. He gives his traditional introduction and manages to get off a few insults before (no surprise) he gets interrupted. Miz, belt in hand, comes out to tell del Rio how Edge has been insulting him behind his back. Del Rio does not believe this, so Edge who was up until this point off the hook comes out and says all the things he was just accused of saying. Way to be a jerk Edge. So with that in mind Del Rio declares that at Wrestlemania he will be competing for the…wait for it… WORLD CHAMPION!! So there’s that rivalry off to a nice start. After a small skirmish in the ring, not too big because everyone’s wea

The Rager - Royal Rumble Thoughts

Image
Hello once again, my Ragerites, quite a bit has happened in the WWE Universe over the past couple of days so here are my thoughts: Royal Rumble: 1. The World Heavyweight title match was slow but thankfully, Mr. Ziggles made the best of it. You can always tell a wrestler has come into his own when he can carry a match even though the person he's up against seems out of place and terrible (Edge). The match took way too long in my book but hey, I guess that happens when you have 4 matches for a 3 hour show. Anyways, Edge really had no business getting the win and I don't understand why they used Kelly Kelly to jump Vickie, wouldn't it make more sense to use a girl that has had previous storylines with her and Ziggles? (i.e. NXT girl). 2. So if CM Punk and his merry men were going to interfere with the WWE title match then why did we get all the Alex Riley interruptions? I'm really looking forward to the day when they take the training wheels off Miz and let him carry his o
