Wonder Woman

Image
So tell me the difference between these two outfits? Which looks more ridiculous? I'll give you a guess, it's the one with the shiny bright blue spandex pants with matching blue boots. I was concerned for the new Wonder Woman tv show when they announced the basic premise. I was even more concerned when the original costume idea first appeared a couple weeks back. It seemed like no one involved had any clue what to do with Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. Three distinct personalities, high-heel blue boots, what else could they throw in there? But now I think it might be getting better. This new costume, while still problematic, is a step up from both the original tv costume and her original bathing suit-inspired costume as well. I still have no idea how she can run with such little breast support, but at least she has some pants on now. If Xena: Warrior Princess could use some straps, her Amazonian sister Wonder Woman could too. I'm just saying. And her shoes are the r

My New Project!

So by now you know that I am a huge Star Wars nerd/geek/fanatic. Well, I have finally decided to take the next step in the relationship. I am joining the Mandalorian Mercs. Don't know who they are? check this out: http://mercs.firespray.net/forum/index.php In order to be an official member, I have to have my own set of beskar'gam (that's Mandalorian armor). I have always wanted my own armor but was afraid for years that it would require me to learn the time consuming and expensive art of vac forming. After doing some browsing through the tips and tricks section of the Merc's forums I found a tutorial showing how to make beskar'gam out of plastic storage totes! I ran outside and, to my supreme joy, there were two sitting in our storage room, completely empty. I snatched them up, printed out templates and got to cutting! So here are some shots of the progress so far. These are the first pieces cut out of green paper Here are the templates transfered onto one of the bu

Captain America will be released

Image
Captain America you say? You may be thinking that I am talking about this movie. The one that will be hitting theaters later this year. But we all knew that was coming out. What I want to talk about today is this movie Made in 1990, this version of Captain America never actually made it into theaters and has never been released on DVD. Those who dig through Ebay long enough may be able to find a rather rare copy of the VHS copy that was released. However, thanks to the new movie coming out this summer, we will finally be able to see the first Captain America movie make it's debut on DVD some time this May. And not only will it be released but it will be a director's cut version with about 30 extra minutes of footage. Now it is the general consensus that this movie was terrible. And being that I have never seen the whole thing, I can't say for sure one way or the other. But check back in May when I will most certainly have gotten a copy of this. Now if we can just get an off

Turtles Get A Reboot as Well

When the Thundercats reboot was announced, I tried very hard to keep a positive outlook on the whole thing. Sure the character designs were different but there was no reason to assume that that would be a bad thing. And who knows, with no real reason to hate it yet, why not be excited about the whole thing. At least for now. Well now we have a new reboot. Another great show, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting another show next year. This isn't the first time the show has been retooled. After the original version of the cartoon (and still the best version) there was a live action version of the show (which only lasted a season) and there was another cartoon that started in 2003, which I found surprisingly good. With this new reboot I want to once again be optimistic. So far there is more good Ninja Turtles material than bad and until I am proven wrong, why shouldn't we all look forward to this show? Thats what I want to think anyway. However Entertainment Weekl

Super 8 Poster is revealed

Image
Movie Posters can be tricky. One can argue that these are valid works of art, valid as the movies that they are for. On the other hand, a different argument can be made that they are nothing more than an advertisement for the movie. As if they were just an announcement of a movie's eventual coming. Often the answer I have found lies somewhere in between. There are certainly examples of good and bad posters. For example the recent X-men: Frist Class posters did little to add to the "art" argument, or even make me want to see the movie. Other posters feature art work that I want to have hanging on my wall. (Most anything that was created by Drew Struzan) I say all that to take a look at the new poster for Super 8 which was just released. The reason this poster caught my eye was the unique side shot that the poster uses. Something you don't pic up on at first, and requires a second look at. I think that if a poster is supposed to convey the feeling of a movie, this post

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Death Star but were afraid to ask.

There is so much "YES" in the following chart that I can not even begin to describe it. Have you ever had a question about the greatest space station ever built? Well there is a good chance that the answer lies somewhere below. Compiled by Car Insurance Guide and Geeks are Sexy | Picture hosted on imgur

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Image
Oh yeah, I'm gonna sit around and talk about ponies now. Brace yourself. I assume that most of the internet has seen something from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic by now. At the very least, this awesome chart has been circulating around a lot. Now, I didn't immediately buy into the hype. Don't get me wrong, I'm as girly as girly comes. But my taste in TV isn't always so full of sugar and rainbows. I watched the original MLP cartoon as when I was little, rented on VHS mostly. The only value I really saw in it was the fact that the protagonists' name was Megan and that she was friends with ponies. And ponies, to any little girl, are so awesome. So when a new series came out, I was a little suspicious. Cartoons since the golden age of the 90s (as us kids who grew up in the 90s remember them) have not been all that great, certain amazing exceptions aside. Needless to say not every cartoon can be Phineas and Ferb or Adventure Time. But I thought I'd give it

Long Overdue Oscar Report

Image
The Academy Awards happened a full half week ago and no one has yet to jump on this juicy bit of nerdy exciting news! I am disappointed, friends. That is okay, though. (Especially considering that two of our very own Awesomites have found themselves with REAL blogging jobs! more on that in a minute) It just means that it falls to me! Bwahahahaha! Anywho, let's get a-crackin! Let's start with the categories I know nothing about and care even less about: the documentaries. Now I am sure the winners were deep and meaningful and were able to capture the situations and subjects with the most critical of eyes. But let's be honest. Raise your hand if you saw any of them. So congratulations Inside Job and Strangers No More . Whatever you were about. In related news, the foreign language film category is one I know very little about. Here again, I am sure that the award is justly deserved. I just don't know on what grounds... Bravo, In a Better World . Next are the short fil
