A Brief Rant About Disney Nerd-dom

I'd definitely consider myself a Disney nerd. Not your standard "I like Disney movies for nostalgic purposes," sort of thing, but instead "I'd give my left foot to work at Disney." I'd say it was probably my earliest fandom, for obvious reasons, but only recently did I get more into the culture of Disney, probably within the past two years or so. Disney fandom is really unlike any other I've participated in. Because their movies are essentially made for children, and because people are first exposed to them at a very young age, it creates a very different atmosphere than say a fandom intended for adolescents or adults, or even a fandom that starts at childhood but is marketed mostly for adults (I'd say Star Wars was under this umbrella, for example.) This makes the nostalgia factor really large. People have definite favorite movies and characters that they're very attached to. They like certain theme parks. They have large collections of merc

Nintendo announces the next Wii. The Wii U

Earlier today, at E3, Nintendo announced among other things, their newest home console. Called the Wii U, Nintendo promised in their presentation that the new console would be both "wider and deeper" than any console in history. What basically this would translate to is that Nintendo is trying to keep the casual gamer that the Wii was so successful with while at the same time trying to recapture the more hardcore gamer audience that has drifted toward Xbox and Playstation in recent years. It was even said in the presentation that "Wii" should be thought of as 'We" to indicate the group experience of playing while the "U" should be thought of as 'You" and the personal experience of the console. Anyway the biggest reveal of the day was the new controller that the console would have. You can also see the controller in action by watching the trailer shown at E3 My first reaction is about how big that thing is. Based on seeing people holding i
