Obligatory Nerdy Valentines Post!

Valentine's Day is the other candy-obsessed holiday (hello Halloween and Christmas!) that is also obsessed with cards. It starts with those little card things we get in elementary school and goes from there. I would imagine more is spent on cards for this holiday than most other holidays. The more specifically tailored a card is to the receiver's individual preferences the better a card is. This goes for us nerds too.

The more romantic and crafty of nerds make nerdy valentines. Then because they're nerds after all, they post them to the internet for all of us to see. Here are some examples.

I've seen a number of other nerdy cards posted throughout the internet the last few days. I'm sure I'm missing a multitude of cards posted. But these are the ones I remember.

What with all the talk about the Oscar nominations getting announced today, one particular nomination has been overlooked. Namely the fact that even though the ENTIRE soundtrack was overlooked by the Golden Globes the Oscars at least did right by the best bunch of original songs this year and nominated Man or Muppet as on of the contenders for Best Original Song. Day 5 of Halloween - The Fly (1958)

Jason:  First of all, I hope that everyone watched the right iteration of this film. The one with Vincent Price, not Jeff Goldblum.  Now that we’ve gotten that straight… This movie is considered to be a Halloween cult classic. It doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of scares or terror but it still remains a seasonal favorite. For the time, the make-up effects were decent. The way Andre’s fly head twitches and vibrates makes it look pretty convincing for a 1950’s puppet mask. The story, however, is what is so captivating. I have been reading a lot of Lovecraft stories lately and I couldn’t help but draw a comparison between them and this movie. The plot is very Lovecraftian. Let me explain: The main character is a highly intellectual recluse who spends most of his time in research. He stumbles across some natural secret that ultimately leads to his destruction.
