Battleship: The Movie

Image
Yea thats happening. Don't really know what to expect from the movie, but you can watch the trailer which has been released online to get a glimpse of the movie. Looks interesting, nothing really like the Battleship game I remember playing as a kid, but interesting none the less. (Were their always aliens in Battleship and I just never played by the right rules?) Anyway you can also check out the official site for the movie here , where you can, among other things play the original Battleship.

Star Wars deleted scenes (another teaser)

Image
Half of Comic-con is left but I'm not sure that any teasers revealed there are going to be as exciting to me as this. I was at Celebration last year when the Star Wars Blu Ray's were announced and we got to see the deleted scene from Return of the Jedi. Like then, watching this teaser was an almost surreal experience. I've watched the Star Wars movies so many times, that I'm familiar with every single action from every single character, just as I'm sure many of you are. Every step, every line, every raised eyebrow. Now there is footage of these characters, characters I know so well, doing things and being in situations I've never seen before. Take a look below. Its a rare movie series, where the deleted scenes merit a trailer of their own but if any series deserves the distinction, I think it's safe to say that Star Wars is that series.

Wonder Woman footage from failed pilot

It's not the entire pilot yet, but about six minutes of footage has hit the webs which is more than we've ever seen before. Now, really for the first time we can start to get a glance at what the feel of the show might have been. It seems that some of the effects (especially in the fight scene) were not finished but with the show never coming to air, I don't really expect anyone to go back and fix that. Also it seems for all the investment in discussions about the costume, more than one costume were seen in the videos so far. See for yourself. Dexter: Season 6 trailer

Image
Had enough movie trailers thrown your way? Well I hope not because it's Comic-con time and I expect a slew of information to come out of San Diego over the next couple of days. In the meantime, Showtime has debuted a new trailer for Dexter (probably their best show currently airing) Because season 5 seemed to be all about the recovery and fall out of the end of season 4 this really feels like the first time we may be getting to see classic Dexter in a while. I don't know if the religious angle that the trailer seems to have is just for the promotion or actually hints at the content of the next season, but either way its an interesting angle. See for yourself.

Amazing Spider-man Gets a trailer

Image
Its been a slew of trailer updates here, as of late, but with summer movies, comes summer trailers, with the new Spider-man movie being the latest. Amazing Spider-man was a movie I was prepared to hate. I felt that I already had my Spider-man movies, and this new "reboot" was just a low down cash grab to keep the rights to the series. But then Marc Webb was announced as the director, and with each and every casting decision sounding like a good one, I couldn't help but get a little excited about the movie. But now we have a trailer to see our first real glimpse of the movie's footage. Check out thoughts below the trailer. Now, I don't know about your Spider-man, but the Spider-man that I had growing up was funny. Constantly cracking jokes at the expense of his villains, Spidey was always a much lighter read than some of the other comic book heroes. So why does the theme of this movie feel so dark? The trailer starts out with a reminder that Peter&#

The Dark Knight Rises has a teaser

Image
I feel as though you should have seen this one by now, since It played in front of Harry Potter and please tell me you have seen Harry Potter by now. But just in case, or if you want to watch it again, (and believe me, I did) the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is now online. embedded below. Check back tomorrow for an overly detailed analysis of the trailer, but for now, just sit back and enjoy the magic of Nolan's final Batman story.

Knights of Badassdom photos

Image
Knights of Badassdom looks like a movie that you just want to like. Staring genre favorite Summer Glau, Danny Pudi from Community, and Peter Dinklage, my new favorite actor thanks to his amazing work on Game of Thrones this past season, Knights of Badassdom, is about a group of LARPers (Live Action Role Players) who's game starts to get a little to real when one of the group casts a magic spell from a book that they bought off of eBay. See what I mean? Its the kind of movie that looks like a whole bunch of Comic-con smashed into one movie. Well Entertainment Weekly has posted the following pictures, allowing up to get our first look at the movie.

A Potterhead's Feelings on Watching The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Image
*Not a lot of Deathly Hallows Part 2 spoilers in here, but a few in here, so proceed with caution!* As a lover of Harry Potter for almost half of my life, it's hard to put into words how I felt watching the last movie. It was exciting, to see all the fans and meet new people and talk about costuming, favorite characters, cherished memories from book releases and theme park visits. But it was also heartbreaking. I first picked up a Harry Potter book when I was 11 years old, and it changed my life. It sounds ridiculous, but I'm sure a lot of you can relate to that feeling. I grew up with these books, at just about the right ages for every one of them, and when the last book came out I was so upset. But, I knew I would get to see the fans again, and get to experience the stories again through the movies, so it didn't seem to final. The fandom won't just disappear now that it's all wrapped up, and the books and movies will be there to enjoy again, but it's difficult

Another Exciting Trailer...

Image
John Carter. As in John Carter of Mars. How exciting is it to finally see this come to the big screen? The film, directed by Pixar's Andrew Stanton will be his first live action movie to date. Check out below to get your first look at next years movie. For those who want to know more about the book series, you can click here .

Pirates Teaser Trailer Hits!

Image
We here at Irrelevant but Awesome, tend to have a rather strong fondness for a book series called The Pirates! about a delightful pirate crew, who follow their captain (appropriately named Pirate Captain) on his ridiculous schemes, and all tend to have a great love for ham. The series, while successful enough to have four books in it, is not necessarily a smashing "Harry Potter" style hit, so its quite exciting to see that a movie is going to get made from the material. Add to that fact, that it's the same people that made Wallace and Gromit, and Chicken Run and this is shaping up to be a fantastic looking movie. The trailer has just hit and everything about it looks promising, from the animation to the humor. See for yourself. Now, go grab yourself a copy of the books so that you too can get excited for this movie.

Please don't be CM Punk's last night on Raw

We've been keeping up with it for the past couple of weeks so we really should see this out through the end. In what may end up being his last night ever on Monday Night Raw, Punk delivered not one but two great promos to both open and close the show. You can find the both of them below so that you too can understand why WWE needs to keep this man employed. 1st video: CM Punk opening the show with a promo and the aid of a megaphone. Videos 2 and 3: Punk and Vince McMahon have a live contract negotiation in the ring, to end the show.

New Evil Dead Movie happening?

Image
So there have been quite a few rumors over the years about another Evil Dead movie happening at some point. Even if you don't count the several mentions of Evil Dead remakes and Evil Dead 4 false starts that have happened, there are still rumors of a movie adaptation of the fantastic Evil Dead Musical that popped up a while back, and an outline for the aborted Freddy Vs. Jason sequel that would have had Ash take on the two horror icons. (Admittedly that one did end up becoming a comic book series ) So this may just be the latest on a whole pile of false rumors, but who cant help getting excited regardless? Bloody Disgusting has reported that Sam Rami has confirmed that things are moving forward with the Evil Dead remake, mentioned in the article as a "quasi-remake" of the original 1981 film. The article also said that a director had been selected for the film. One Federico Alvarez, who's short film Panic Attack! (embedded below) went around the net a few years ago.

A Dark Knight Rises teaser poster is revealed.

Short Film of the Week: Kiwi!

Image
It's been on YouTube since 2006 but just in case you hadn't seen it yet, I really wanted to post this video. It's a short video, less than three minutes, but it it still more captivating, inspiriting, thought provoking, heartbreaking, and funnier than almost anything else on the site, even now five years later. Because the video there's not much to say about it other than it's about a Kiwi which is a flightless bird from New Zealand. What the video embedded below. Its more than worth the time to watch.

TV show to watch: Fast and Loose

Image
Last week we looked at "Drew Carey's Improv-a-ganza" as a TV show you need to see. We talked about how it was almost as if there were new episodes of "Who's Line is it Anyway" for the fans of that show. But what if you preferred the original version of the show and like your "Who's Line" comedy with a bit of a british accent? Well don't you worry because I've got you covered with a new show as well. Like "Who's Line is it Anyway" the british show " Fast and Loose " is a totally improvised show. It even starts out with the host standing in the audience before running down to the stage the way Drew Carey did in every episode of "Who's Line." It has several new games new games that haven't ever been seen in earlier improv shows, but the same feel of the classic "Who's Line is it Anyway" is present, and the new faces are all great in the show. (Though its not all new faces, since Wayne

Darth Plagueis get his Story

Image
The tale of Darth Plagueis as told to us by Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith was probably the most "tell me more" moment of the movie if not the entire prequel trilogy. How old was the story? Was Palpatine the student in the story? We got the distinct impression that some things may have been twisted or left out of the story in order for it to have the maximum effect on Anakin. So what were those things. What is the whole story, without the Sidious edit that we got? Well not we may have a chance to find out. This December (December 27th to be exact) Del Ray Books will release a novel titled Darth Plagueis, where we may get some answers, and at least get a good story out of it.

It's Time to Play the Music...

Image
Because there's a new Muppet's movie coming out this year ( you may have heard about it. ) Disney is putting out some other Muppet related merchandise for Muppet fans to get their hands on. Probably the most exciting of these things is something called The Green Album set to be released August 23rd. The Green Album, we've learned, is an album with some of the most famous Muppet song's covered by today's artists. Will it work? I'm not sure. The track listing actually seems rather enticing, taking a look at it. And Weezer doing Rainbow connection is enough to at least merit a sampleing of the album. Below is a complete list of the songs and artist that will be on the album. 01 OK Go: "Muppet Show Theme" 02 Weezer and Paramore's Hayley Williams: "Rainbow Connection" 03 The Fray: "Mahna Mahna" 04 Alkaline Trio: "Moving Right Along" 05 My Morning Jacket: "Our World" 06 Amy Lee: "Halfway Down the Stairs"

Cabin in the Woods: First production photo

Image
Well, file this one under "Things I never thought I'd see." Originally supposed to come out in February 2010, the movie was delayed for almost an entire year to allow for it to be converted into 3D. Then when MGM filed for bankruptcy, that release date was scrapped as well. I was just starting to accept that I was probably going to finally see the movie years in the future having found a direct-to-DVD release in the bottom of a discount bin when we heard that LionsGate would be picking up the movie. So here we are with a promise of a theatrical release later this year (though no exact date has been announced) and we finally get our first look at the movie with this picture. Of course Chris Hemsworth is front and center since he's starred in Thor since this movie was filmed, but take a look at the pic yourself from Bloody Disgusting.

Lets learn something: Shoe Tying

I've been trying it for a few days now, and you know what? I actually think this might be a better way to tie your shoe. It may take you a few tries to really get the hang of it, but once you do, it can shave precious seconds off of the shoe tying part of your day. And as a bonus, this new way of tying your shoe will help keep both of the loops the same size, something that used to drive me crazy as a child.

CM Punk on Raw Update

For those keeping up with the CM Punk storyline right now, Punk was suspended after his amazing promo (monologue) at the end of the show last week. This week continued the drama with Cena demanding an explanation from the Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon. A lot of the minor stories were also touched on throughout the night, but for those who really just care about the Punk story, here is the final segment of last night's show where McMahon came out to address the audience.

Short film of the week

It's been floating around the web for a while now, so there's a chance that you've already seen this one, but on the off chance that you haven't, this one is well worth posting. Plot Device is a film about an amateur filmmaker who spots a mysterious object for sale on Amazon and the consequences of his impulse buy. Plot Device from Red Giant on Vimeo . Full disclosure, the film is actually a big ad by software creator Red Giant to show of the capabilities of their latest release. None the less, the film is still enjoyable and a worthwhile watch. For those who are interesting in the actual product, the film was made to show off, a "making of" video has also been uploaded. Your New Favorite TV show

Image
Many of you, who were born at the right time, grew up with this: If you did, then you loved watching each and every week. To this day, its one of the few shows that if I come across it while channel flipping, I will watch to the end. Every single time. Well for those fans, (which again, should be all of you) there is another show that you may enjoy called, Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza. The show features not only Drew Cary, but also appearances from Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, and even an occasional appearance by Wayne Brady. A host of other improv stars also show up as the crew entertains a live audience just like they did in the old days. Some of the games are brand new, but they also do a few games from the old "Who's Line is it Anyway?" group of games. Because the show can almost be described as simply "new Who's Line episodes," its somewhat alarming that the show hasn't gotten more coverage. If you haven't been watching it then there are a sle

Netflix Givith

Image
For those who don't know by now, Netflix has finally put Star Trek on instant view. And not just the original series. In fact, every episode of every series is avalible except for DS9. (or the animated series if you wanted to count that) Still, thats 21 seasons of Star Trek for you to watch. So what are you waiting for? Get on that. Relive the wonder of watching the original series. Catch up on those episodes of TNG that they never seem to show in reruns (trust me, Encounter at Farpoint would not apply here) I, forever a champion of the underdog, recommend that you take advantage of having access to every episode, and take some time rewatching Enterprise. You may just be surprised to learn how good of a show it actually is. As a bonus, for those of you who have already watched every moment of the Star Trek universe, Netflix has also added every episode of the Spiderman sereis from the 90s and the classic X-men animated sereis.

In Case you Didn't Know...

Image
CM Punk is the greatest thing happening in wrestling right now. This past Monday, Punk ended the show with a speech that has caused everyone to sit up and take notice. Nothing I say here could in any way improve what Punk said, so presented here, without further comment, is the video from the end of Monday night's episode of Raw. At least until Punk's mic was cut off. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
