Star Wars Cast talks about their New Release...The Empire Strikes Back

So I'm a big fan of old interviews. The idea of people talking about something that we consider classic, back when it was a brand new thing is always interesting. The interest is even greater when it comes to Star Wars because so much of the franchise's history is all about "what comes next." The idea that there would be more movies, and more stories to tell in the universe is something that's always been with Star Wars so in every interview we get questions about the next chapters of the saga. In this interview, released some time in 1980 (probably very close to the film's release since they won't talk about the connection between Darth Vader and Luke) we get to hear about the intended nine films that Star Wars was going to be.

It's interesting to listen to the ideas that they had about the prequel movies back in 1980. Some were way off from what actually ended up happening (Mark Hamill talks about an 8-year-old version of Luke in Episode III that we never ended up seeing.) However some things ended up being fairly accurate. Anthony Daniels mentions that even though the three main characters probably won't be in any more movies past the third one, the droids (himself and R2D2) would probably make appearances throughout the movies.

Watch the interview in it's entirety here.
