George Lucas Revealed as Secret Director of New Han Solo Movie

Image
Ok, that’s clearly a hyperbolic, clickbait title, and I apologize for that. Here’s what’s actually going on. It seems that there was one day during filming where George Lucas was on set. This was during Ron Howard’s time, after Miller and Lord had left the project. While it was only supposed to be a short visit, Lucas reportedly stayed for close to five hours, taking in the set and talking with people. In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Kathleen Kennedy said that there was one point where George Lucas suggested, “Why doesn’t Han just do this…” It seems that Ron Howard heard the suggestion from Lucas and thought it was a great idea. He went to his actors and said, “George wants us to do this.”  Now, we don’t know exactly what the suggestion was or how big or small it was. Likely, this will come up again a few weeks after the movie has been released and once we’ve all seen it. Someone will probably mention in a promotional interview that, “such and such moment was George’...

Ten Most Anticipated Movies of 2018

Image
10. Pacific Rim Uprising Pacific Rim is on may people’s top ten list of 2013 movies, and deservedly so. A big budget, sci-fi action, monster movie based on a completely original idea, it felt like a miracle that Pacific Rim was made at all, not to mention how good it turned out. Unfortunately despite glowing reviews, Pacific Rim woefully under performed at the Box Office losing to Grown Ups 2 in its first weekend. It’s thanks to the movies success in other markets, most notably China, that we’re getting this sequel, but after watching the box office return of the first movie, the fact that we’re getting a sequel seems like just as much of a miracle as the first movie existing at all. With Kong: Skull Island out last year and a Godzilla sequel coming out next year, monster movies are coming back in a big way and it’s good to see some good original ideas getting made alongside the nostalgia acts. 9. Paddington 2 Already released in the UK back in November, Paddington 2 is one of the...

More Thoughts on the Han Solo Director Situation

Image
This article is basically a continuation of yesterday’s wild speculation article which you can read here . As information and speculation continues to trickle out about the behind the scenes drama of the still untitled Han Solo movie, there are a few more things that need to be mentioned that we simply didn’t have time for yesterday. First and foremost, It can not be overstated as to how big of a deal this whole thing actually is. The situation we’re watching unfold is more or less unprecedented. While we’ve seen directors leave projects before (sometimes fired, sometimes of their own volition) it’s never been this late into the production, and neve on a movie or a franchise on the level of Star Wars . There have been a few comparisons that have been cropping up again and again that I do want to take a moment to address here. Zack Snyder and Justice League : For those who don’t know, director Zack Snyder has stepped away from the upcoming Justice League movie to deal with fam...

Wild Speculation: Phil Lord and Chris Miller Are No Longer Directing the Han Solo Spin Off Movie

Image
Welcome to “Wild Speculation” a segment here where we take a recent news story and speculate wildly on what it could mean. Today’s story, Directing duo, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were directing the still untitled Han Solo spinoff film for Lucasfilm, announced yesterday that they were leaving the project. Officially that is all we know so far. Now, onto the wild speculation. First of all I want to say something about the idea of Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing this Han Solo movie in the first place. To date the pair have directed four movies together ( Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street ) which have all been out and out comedies of one form or another. While not full out parodies, each of these four movies has leaned very heavily into outlandish comedy in it’s own unique way. And while Star Wars movies have always been fun movies with plenty of humor, especially when it came to the character of Han Solo, it’s nowhere ne...

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Photos & Kylo Ren Details

Image
Today, Entertainment Weekly released photos from Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as a little more information on one of the villains of the new movie played by Adam Driver, Kylo Ren. One of the images that started the giant debate over whether or not people like Kylo Ren's lightsaber. One theory has been proven right about it but more on that below the photos. Domhnall Gleeson's character General Hux. This same image was shown back at Comic-Con but was never officially released until now. Also, as spoiled by Gleeson at Comic-Con, Hux is the leader at the Starkiller Base and is confirmed to be a villain (because he's British). Finn and Rey running from stormtroopers, possibly on Jakku.  Is the mystery person riding a giant animal? A giant droid? Both? Also, is Rey capturing BB-8 or is that just the best way to transform the rolling droid that's captured the awe of Star Wars fans already. Finn is still dressed as a stormtrooper as...
