Irrelevant But Awesome

  The Brady Bunch is one of the staple classics of television. Despite the show never receiving much critical praise, or even being that big of a hit during it's five season run, in syndication, the show had become one of the most well known television series of all time. Today almost everybody has at least a passing familiarity of the story of a man with three sons and a woman with three daughters getting married and creating a blended family with six children. Several of the series episodes have gone on to rank among the top episodes of television of all time. It's no wonder that with the belated success of the series, people have tried time and time again to recapture the magic of The Brady Bunch . You know that moment at the very end of the Star Wars VII trailer? The "We're home" moment? Where it stops being Harrison Ford acting and totally 100% becomes Han Solo existing again for the first time since 1983? That happened again. Ash vs. The Evil Dead has released it's first trailer and seeing Ash get back into action was truly, and 100% seeing Ash from the Evil Dead series (especially Army of Darkness ) suit up again. Check it out below to quell your own fears of it being a hollow cash grab of a show. No, ladies and gentlemen, this looks like the Ash event we've all been waiting for since 1992.

There is a lot of information about Star Wars VII roaming around the internet. Character bios, rumors, pictures taken by fans of people filming, etc. For the most part I'm trying to avoid all of that. If possible, I'd like to go into The Force Awakens with as little information as possible to just enjoy the experience. But to make up for that, and to fill all the time I'm saving by avoiding internet rumors, I'm focused on the one other thing being released this year that is as exciting as Star Wars VII . Those who saw the fourth season of Arrested Development had a lot of things to say about it and not all of them were kind. Some complained about the format that focused on only one character at a time. Some complained about the fact that some shots were clearly patched together from two different shots because schedules couldn't line up well enough to get the everyone in the room at the same time to shoot the shot. Some just had general complaints about the quality of the show saying the magic of the first three seasons was gone. My personal complaint? The ending. Not what the ending was exactly, but the fact that they chose to end on a cliffhanger. I mean I was waiting for the better part of a decade for that season to finally come out and we had no idea how long a fifth season would take to get together or if it would ever finally happen at all. As the days get longer and outside gets warmer, we know that summer is approaching. Which means it a perfect time to start thinking about all of that Netflix you're going to watch inside in the air conditioning while you eat ice-cream. Netflix has announced a whole slew of original programming scheduled to be released between now and August, so lets take a look at what's coming up in the next few months. May 21st Between: The first Netflix series to focus on a YA audience, Between is a Canadian show about a virus that kills everyone over the age of 21. So it looks like a good bit of Lord of the Flies mixed with some of that YA dystopian genre that's so popular right now. The first season will consist of six episodes and, unlike earlier Netflix shows, the series will not put out the entire season all at once, but instead put out one episode a week starting May 21st. Oh, I'm sorry. Did you have something productive that you were going to do today? Well get that silly notion out of here because clearly this is going to take up the next several days of your life. See, In an effort to make more people aware that brand new episodes of Whose Line is it Anyway? are still being produced on the CW, the channel has released not just all of their new episodes hosted by Aisha Tyler, but in fact every single episode of the original US run as well that was hosted by Drew Carey.   I would say more here, but I'm sure you're still just reading this as a courtesy until I give you a link that you can click on. Did you know that there are currently seven different shows on TV that are about comic book superheroes? No really. You've got Flash and Arrow on the CW, Gotham on Fox, Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter on ABC, Powers on PSN, and Daredevil on Netflix. You can also throw in Walking Dead and iZombie on AMC and CW as they're both based on comic books for a grand total of nine. Well it looks like even more are coming our way as two trailers have debut for superhero shows that are coming out this television season. First up we have Supergirl on CBS. So this looks a lot like early seasons of Smallville with that "How does a Kryptonian make it in this modern busy world?" kind of feel. I'll give it a go, I did like the arguments about how the costume should look. It must have been a good year for ABC. With the exception of just for shows (The newcomers Christela and  Forever , as well as Resurection and Revenge ) the entire slate of ABC primetime shows will be returning next year. While this includes some shows that were foregone conclusions, (Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon a Time, Scandal) there are a few nice surprises in there. American Crime, despite not getting stellar reviews was a big hit with critics and is getting another season. There is a good chance that American Crime might be up for some awards this fall which may have helped it's renewal. ABC has decided to also renew both of their Marvel TV shows Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. While it looks like the proposed Agents of SHIELD spinoff, won't be going forward, the fact that both shows are going to get more episodes is great news. Let me just say upfront that I adore Myst . I have ever since I was a kid trying to explore that island on an old Windows 95 desktop. I can't tell you why I loved it so much. It certainly wasn't because I was good at it. on the contrary, in retrospect I was really quite awful. Clues to the game's mystery flew over my head as I would spend hours wandering aimlessly about clicking on things again and again until perhaps, by a stroke of dumb luck I could get something to activate. But love that game I did. So much so I would grab up the next games in the franchise, only to wander about aimlessly some more, and I found the media tie in novels as well. And all this time there was talk of a Myst movie or a Myst TV show. the SciFi Channel announced in 2002 that it was working on a Myst television show, one that you'll notice never seemed to get around to being made. It has been announced that Netflix is developing a TV series around the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham. Yes, for real, and Netflix has already ordered the first 13 episodes of the series. I think this would be a great time to point out that the source material, the book Green Eggs and Ham, only uses 50 words in the entire book. Seriously, Dr Seuss wrote the book as part of a bet were someone said that he couldn't write an entire children's book using fifty or less different words. Well he did, and now it's going to apparently take 13 (or more) episodes to tell that harrowing tale of someone trying to get someone else to eat something. And you thought they added a lot to the Hobbit Trilogy. The show is nowhere close to coming out though. I've heard of shows that have been canceled, and then uncanceled due to either loud enough fan support or last minute deals going through. I've also heard of shows that got canceled before a single episode was aired. (This happened to the show Hieroglyph , just this past year.) But I'm not sure if both of these things have ever happened to the same show before now. A while back, the land of Oz seemed to be everywhere. Disney had released a fairly successful prequel movie about the Wizard first arriving, Oz characters were showing up on Once Upon a Time , and there were no less than three (count 'em three) Wizard of Oz themed TV shows in development at the same time. One of those shows was Emerald City on NBC. Emerald City was described as a Game of Thrones style interpretation of the land of Oz (i.e. NBC would like some of that GoT success) that would cover events not only from the original Wizard of Oz book, but its thirteen sequels as well. If you don't know about The Mortal Instruments book series, here's a quick rundown for you. The story is about a young girl named Clary who learns that she is a member of the Shadowhunters, a race of people, descended from angels to battle demons. The Mortal Instruments is a book series comprised of six books (really two trilogies) following Clary and her friends. The potentially cool thing about this series though is that it is one of potentially five different series that all together will make up The Shadowhunter Chronicles . The author, Cassandra Claire, has written a series titled The Infernal Devices that is a prequel series to The Mortal Instruments and features the ancestors of some of the characters in the Mortal Instruments series. But we can’t forget Television shows. Along with the films nominated for Golden Globes today we got a slew of TV that’s been nominated as well. Now these I’ve seen a lot more of. It's not the entire pilot yet, but about six minutes of footage has hit the webs which is more than we've ever seen before. Now, really for the first time we can start to get a glance at what the feel of the show might have been. It seems that some of the effects (especially in the fight scene) were not finished but with the show never coming to air, I don't really expect anyone to go back and fix that. Also it seems for all the investment in discussions about the costume, more than one costume were seen in the videos so far. See for yourself.
