First Real Look at Ash vs. Evil Dead

By Joelgleo
There is a lot of information about Star Wars VII roaming around the internet. Character bios, rumors, pictures taken by fans of people filming, etc. For the most part I'm trying to avoid all of that. If possible, I'd like to go into The Force Awakens with as little information as possible to just enjoy the experience. But to make up for that, and to fill all the time I'm saving by avoiding internet rumors, I'm focused on the one other thing being released this year that is as exciting as Star Wars VII.

I think I've said it on here before, but I am posting every single scrap of information we get about the upcoming Ash vs. The Evil Dead show. Today we get our first real look at Star Bruce Campbell back in the saddle (and back with the chainsaw) as Ash Williams, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

I've gotta say, It feels good to see Bruce Campbell back in the Ash getup. Also worth mentioning, the girl on the right looks like she is wearing a uniform for a big box store. Probably not S-Mart, but somewhere similar. So we've got a good idea of where Ash has been hanging out since he got back home from the Middle Ages.

Ash vs. The Evil Dead comes out this fall on Starz.

Top 30 Muse Songs (5 - 1)

By

We finally made it, the top 5 Muse songs ever according to me (with other's thoughts in mind...sort of). Their new album Drones has been released in most of the world by now and, from the sound of it, I may be revisiting this least at some point in the future to add in a few of the new songs (actually one of their new songs just might top the list as my favorite). At any rate, a full review of Drones will be popping up on Irrelevant But Awesome very soon and then, I promise I will shut up about Muse for a little while...maybe. Here's a refresher on the previous songs in the list:  30-26 ,  25-21 ,  20-16 ,  15-11 ,  10-6 . 5. Unintended A fan favorite since the band's beginning, Unintended is probably the most optimistic love songs you'll ever hear without wanting to set the world ablaze from an overdoes of happy. The song is about that special someone that is even more special because it was unexpected and is a light at the end of a depressing tunnel. It ...

Day 9 of Halloween - Re-Animator

Jason:  I am a huge H.P. Lovecraft fan. Now that that’s out of the way, this may be one of the best Lovecraft adaptations that has ever been made. The story is a retelling of one of HPL’s serialized stories, “Herbert West: Reanimator”. It takes its liberties and changes quite a few things, namely the time setting. Originally, they were going to have this movie set in the early 1920’s, same as the story, but because of budgeting constraints, they modernized it. And I think that it works really well in a more modern era. The same questions of what is life, and can we beat death are no closer to being answered now than they were when the story was written. And, this was originally supposed to be a multi-part film that would have come out in sequence, just like the story did. There again, it had to be cut down to a single 90 minute movie because of money. I could go on and on about the differences between HPL’s story and the movie but that could take a while. Just like any ove...

Day 5 of Halloween - The Fly (1958)

Jason:  First of all, I hope that everyone watched the right iteration of this film. The one with Vincent Price, not Jeff Goldblum.  Now that we’ve gotten that straight… This movie is considered to be a Halloween cult classic. It doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of scares or terror but it still remains a seasonal favorite. For the time, the make-up effects were decent. The way Andre’s fly head twitches and vibrates makes it look pretty convincing for a 1950’s puppet mask. The story, however, is what is so captivating. I have been reading a lot of Lovecraft stories lately and I couldn’t help but draw a comparison between them and this movie. The plot is very Lovecraftian. Let me explain: The main character is a highly intellectual recluse who spends most of his time in research. He stumbles across some natural secret that ultimately leads to his destruction. As he is trying to rectify his discovery, he slips farther and farther away from his humanity until he is com...
