Golden Globe Nominations Announced (Television Edition)

But we can’t forget Television shows. Along with the films nominated for Golden Globes today we got a slew of TV that’s been nominated as well. Now these I’ve seen a lot more of. Mostly because TV is much more free than going out to the movies all the time, but a quick look at the nominees shows that you will need at least basic cable to watch most of these shows if not some of the premium channels (Not a single Broadcast show in the Drama nominees) We will get to more in depth reactions later today but for now here are your television nominees without personal commentary

(Real Quick, I know that I just said no personal commentary, but it hurts my very soul that Community has not only not been nominated for a Comedy Series award but in fact is missing from the entire list)

Jason:  First of all, I hope that everyone watched the right iteration of this film. The one with Vincent Price, not Jeff Goldblum.  Now that we’ve gotten that straight… This movie is considered to be a Halloween cult classic. It doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of scares or terror but it still remains a seasonal favorite. For the time, the make-up effects were decent. The way Andre’s fly head twitches and vibrates makes it look pretty convincing for a 1950’s puppet mask. The story, however, is what is so captivating. I have been reading a lot of Lovecraft stories lately and I couldn’t help but draw a comparison between them and this movie. The plot is very Lovecraftian. Muppets for Best Song!

What with all the talk about the Oscar nominations getting announced today, one particular nomination has been overlooked. Namely the fact that even though the ENTIRE soundtrack was overlooked by the Golden Globes the Oscars at least did right by the best bunch of original songs this year and nominated Man or Muppet as on of the contenders for Best Original Song. Sure my pick would have been for Life's a Happy Song, but that's not what's important. What is important is that The Muppets got an Oscar Nomination! YAAAAAAAAAY

Top 30 Muse Songs (15 - 11)

We're mere days away from Muse's new album Drones being released and it's time to see which of their songs cracked the top half of our list. If you missed the previous installments or need a refresher:  26-30 ,  21-25 ,  16-20 15. Undisclosed Desires I remember when they first released this song, it had a lot of fans scratching their collective heads because it felt like a vast departure from what we were used to with Muse. In time, we embraced the song because it's Muse and we appreciate the risk. The song ultimately seemed to lay the ground work for Madness on the next album. 14.
