Box Office Analysis - Justice League

Image
We live in interesting times. Justice League grossed 96 million dollars in its opening weekend, yet all of the box office analysis of this past weekend are talking about it like Justice League is a disaster financially. How can this be? In what world can 96 million dollars be considered a flop. Sure maybe it performed below expectations or desires, but a disaster? A flop? How is that possible? So, it’s worth it to take a little bit of time and break down the box office results of Justice League this past weekend, to see exactly where it sits. (Note: nothing in this article is meant to be a review or commentary on the actual quality of the movie itself. Just a look at the business side of the movie) First of all, we need to take a look at the budget of Justice League . Justice League reportedly had an estimated budget of $300 million. And keep in mind that this is just the production cost. If you want to include the advertising budget, distribution cost, etc., traditional rul...

A Comic-Con Trailer Collection

Image
Last month we were hit with an overwhelming amount of Hollywood advertising and announcements in the form of Comic-Con 2016. Originally I was going to try to compile a huge post of all the big stories and trailers that were released over the weekend but that quickly became an insurmountable task. With new announcements happening all the time, there were announcements happening faster than could be reported on. This isn't even a complete list of every trailer that was released at comic-con (Trailers for Netflix Marvel shows Luke Cage , Iron Fist and The Defenders were released as well) but it is a list of some of the biggest trailers to debut this year from Comic-Con gathered in one place for your viewing pleasure. Wonder Woman Warner Bros. and DC had a pretty big task before them going into Comic-Con this year. After the reaction that Batman v Superman received back in March, they had to prove that they had not only taken the reaction to heart but that Batman v Superm...

Wonder Woman footage from failed pilot

It's not the entire pilot yet, but about six minutes of footage has hit the webs which is more than we've ever seen before. Now, really for the first time we can start to get a glance at what the feel of the show might have been. It seems that some of the effects (especially in the fight scene) were not finished but with the show never coming to air, I don't really expect anyone to go back and fix that. Also it seems for all the investment in discussions about the costume, more than one costume were seen in the videos so far. See for yourself. Wonder Woman

So tell me the difference between these two outfits? Which looks more ridiculous? I'll give you a guess, it's the one with the shiny bright blue spandex pants with matching blue boots. I was concerned for the new Wonder Woman tv show when they announced the basic premise. I was even more concerned when the original costume idea first appeared a couple weeks back. It seemed like no one involved had any clue what to do with Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. Three distinct personalities, high-heel blue boots, what else could they throw in there? But now I think it might be getting better. This new costume, while still problematic, is a step up from both the original tv costume and her original bathing suit-inspired costume as well. I still have no idea how she can run with such little breast support, but at least she has some pants on now. If Xena: Warrior Princess could use some straps, her Amazonian sister Wonder Woman could too. I'm just saying. And her shoes are the r...

Wonder Woman?

I am currently very confused by the most recent developments with the new David E. Kelly version of the Wonder Woman TV show. I can only hope Kelly knows exactly what he's doing. Earlier today, cementing the fact that this is actually happening, the lead actress was cast. Personally, she looks way too young to be a corporate executive. But then, such is Hollywood. However, in the mix of that news, stranger news was also announced. It seems that it won't just be Diana Price and Wonder Woman. Someone named Diana Themyscria is also around. In my quest to understand this very confusing plot point I may have found some answers which ease my concerns a bit. Initially I was concerned Kelly would turn Diana Price/Wonder Woman into an antisocial workaholic who spend all her time working or fighting evil. Workaholic women with no time for a family or meaningful male companionship is a tired trope and it's not like Ally McBeal and its hallucinogenic dancing baby did anything ...
