ILM Turns 40

For those who don't know, ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) in many ways created the movie experience that you have today.

The special effects company was founded by George Lucas more or less when no company existed that would be able to realize his vision for Star Wars on the screen. Since then, ILM has gone on to create the effects for over three hundred movies over the past forty years. To celebrate this milestone, they've released a video celebrating some of their finest moments in special effects.

You can also check out an extensive piece about the company from Wired Magazine here.
