The Dark Knight Rises: The Trailer

Today Warner Bros. relesased the trailer for what is arguably the most anticipated movie of 2012. We'll talk about what goes on in the trailer in a moment but first, let the wonder of The Dark Knight Rises wash over you.

Well that was wonderful wasn't it?
First we get a good look at Bane in motion for the first time. Some of the biggest internet complaints about the trailer is how Bane's voice sounds in this movie. Sure it's a bit odd but its not impossible to understand. And this is the world where Batman has a super gravely voice remember? So I've no problems with the voice yet.
What I do like about this Bane is that he seems to be a very intimidating, competent version of the character, not at all like the disaster we got back in 1997. This is a Bane that I can believe going toe to toe with Batman.

In this show we can clearly see some pictures of Harvey Dent in the background though we've been told that he did in fact die at the end of the last movie. So perhaps this is some sort of memorial? Either way, for some reason, he's getting referenced.
Another interesting thing that may have gone over the heads of most people was pointed out by someone on the internet who had just re-watched Batman Begins. It may have been a coincidence, but Nolan doesn't seem to be the kind of director to let too many coincidences happen in his movie.

It is worth noting that there isn't too much actual footage of Batman in the trailer. Both Bane and Catwoman seem to have a beef with Bruce Wayne and the fact that he is rich rather than with Batman. I'm sure we'll find out a bit more about the movie in the upcoming months, but the real answers wont be revealed till next summer when the movie comes out. Till then, we'll be counting the days.
