Irrelevant But Awesome

Today at Disney's D23 Expo, the poster for the upcoming Star Wars film was released. You can see said poster below: Obviously the major thing here is the fact that Finn (John Boyega) is wielding Luke Skywalker's blue lightsaber that was given to him by Obi-Wan and originally belonged to Anakin. We knew Luke's lightsaber would come into play as we saw it changed hands in the latest teaser trailer and it's interesting that Finn's last name still hasn't been revealed. Does this mean the lightsaber is being kept in the family? Or is Finn simply borrowing it? Or did Finn just happen to come into possession and have no idea of it's significance. Either way, I'm stoked.

Today, Entertainment Weekly released photos from Star Wars: The Force Awakens as well as a little more information on one of the villains of the new movie played by Adam Driver, Kylo Ren. One of the images that started the giant debate over whether or not people like Kylo Ren's lightsaber. One theory has been proven right about it but more on that below the photos. Domhnall Gleeson's character General Hux. This same image was shown back at Comic-Con but was never officially released until now. Also, as spoiled by Gleeson at Comic-Con, Hux is the leader at the Starkiller Base and is confirmed to be a villain (because he's British). Alright, since we've had a few hours to calm down from the excitement from the  Star Wars panel from last night , I thought it might be a good idea to really go through everything that we've learned about Star Wars and The Force Awakens the past few days. Possible Episode IX Director? We'll start with the  rumor  that broke earlier yesterday that Colin Trevorrow might be picked to helm Episode IX. Trevorrow is fresh off the record-breaking Jurassic World that was released a few weeks ago. A lot of skepticism went around about how Trevorrow would handle his first big budget film and he emphatically silenced those critics and is now one of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood at the moment. It's been long announced that Episode VIII would be directed by Rian Johnson (of Looper fame) and was speculated to also be directing IX as well but that would clearly not be the case if this Trevorrow rumor turns out to be true (still no statement from Lucasfilm or Disn...

The above picture was taken as part of the Vanity Fair follow-up over on  StarWars.com . In the article, it was revealed that Serkis would be playing a character named "Supreme Leader Snoke." It has previously been confirmed that the masked figure with the much-debated tri-lightsaber in the first teaser will be Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver. Ren, from what we can tell, is the main villain in the movie and a lot of people are speculating that maybe Serkis's Snoke will be the driving force behind Ren. Are they the re-emergence of the Sith? If Kylo Ren is Sith, we already know there are always two. Clearly the stormtroopers we since in the trailers aren't the Empire, it's been long destroyed but what we see in the trailers are an offshoot of the Empire called "First Order."
