Irrelevant But Awesome

Yesterday, Warner Bros. was "forced" to release the trailer for Suicide Squad even though they didn't want to, because footage of the trailer showing at Comic-con had leaked online. In a statement, Sue Kroll, WB's President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution said the following: “Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the  Suicide Squad  footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.” You know what? The above picture was taken as part of the Vanity Fair follow-up over on  StarWars.com . In the article, it was revealed that Serkis would be playing a character named "Supreme Leader Snoke." It has previously been confirmed that the masked figure with the much-debated tri-lightsaber in the first teaser will be Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver. Ren, from what we can tell, is the main villain in the movie and a lot of people are speculating that maybe Serkis's Snoke will be the driving force behind Ren. Are they the re-emergence of the Sith? If Kylo Ren is Sith, we already know there are always two. Clearly the stormtroopers we since in the trailers aren't the Empire, it's been long destroyed but what we see in the trailers are an offshoot of the Empire called "First Order." It wasn't just Star Wars. I  mean yes, It pretty obvious that in the world of movie trailers, the second teaser for The Force Awakes was clearly the biggest thing to happen in the past week, but in all the excitement of watching, and re-watching, and re-watching the Star Wars trailer, we haven't mentioned any of the other trailers that were released this past week. So as a quick roundup, here are three other trailers for big blockbuster movies that have recently come out. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice  Jurassic World Fantastic Four All in all, I have to say it's been a pretty good week.

Once you've gotten into the double digits of viewing numbers on the new Star Wars trailer, it's time to really start breaking the whole thing down, and obsessing about every single frame. So lets get right to it why don't we? The trailer opens up on a long pan shot of a desert planet that we are told is not Tatooine. And we see a crashed X-wing ship as well as a (much larger) crashed Star Destroyer. It should be noted that this is not the updated X-wing we've been seeing in previous promotional material before now (and later in this same trailer) but rather this is a Battle of Endor era X-wing. The same can be said for the Star Destroyer assuming that the giant battleship we see later in this trailer is an updated Star Destroyer. As presented during the opening panel at Star Wars Celebration that included appearances from the new movie-used R2D2, new droid BB8, new cast members John Boyega,Oscar Isaac, Daisey Ridley and Star Wars vets Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew, director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy finally gave us our second look at the new film. This is the first look at the film since November.Director J.J Abrams did say during the panel that more details will be shared during the weekend event as well as in the coming months before the film's December release.
