Irrelevant But Awesome

The road to promoting the new Muppets tv show on ABC is not always a smooth one, as demonstrated today as Kermit and Miss Piggy, in typical celebrity fashion, took to Twitter to announce that their long, storied romantic relationship as officially ended and, I, for one couldn't be happier. Let me explain, their relationship has been rocky at best for the majority of the 30-40 years that they've been together and, honestly, they both deserve better. Miss Piggy can be self-centered and overbearing (insert Fozzy wacka-wacka here) while Kermit can be aloof and has serious commitment issues. And sure, they've had some nice and sweet moments here and there but in the end, it's better for both of them to go their separate ways. A while back, we talked about the new "adult" prime time Muppet TV show that will be premiering on ABC this fall. The show was described to me as "The Office but with Muppets." And then came the  trailer  that suddenly made me NEED for the show to be on the air. Now comes an extended look at the show. ABC's YouTube channel posted a 10 minute video that was originally only meant for the Comic Con attendees (a slight nudge and a wink at DC, I'm sure) but has release the video that was presented as a pitch video that originally got ABC on-board to making the show. I'll let you go ahead and watch the video below but I'll go ahead and share my thoughts: I need this show like I need water.

Because there's a new Muppet's movie coming out this year ( you may have heard about it. ) Disney is putting out some other Muppet related merchandise for Muppet fans to get their hands on. Probably the most exciting of these things is something called The Green Album set to be released August 23rd. The Green Album, we've learned, is an album with some of the most famous Muppet song's covered by today's artists. Will it work? I'm not sure. The track listing actually seems rather enticing, taking a look at it. And Weezer doing Rainbow connection is enough to at least merit a sampleing of the album.
