The Clashy Ring Attire Wrestlemania Review #24

Image
Joel:  There’s no real question about it, WrestleMania 24 is a good show. It’s got several high profile matches and thanks to the pageantry, the fireworks, and the video packages, most of the matches feel like they are a big deal. I don’t have anything bad to say about WrestleMania 24, but the interesting thing is that I don’t have that much good to say about it either. Yes, pretty much all of the matches are good, but nobody has a career defining match on this card. We’ve seen almost everybody do better at another WrestleMania. It feels like WrestleMania 24 is going through the motions a little bit and making sure all of the boxes are checked. There’s a title match for each of the three brands. Check. There’s a money in the bank match. Check. A celebrity match? Check. A Smackdown guy vs. a Raw guy match? Check. A diva’s match that lasts less than five minutes? Check. I’m sure that it was fantastic watching the show live. It feels like WrestleMania 24 delivered on everything...

The Clashy Ring Attire Wrestlemania Review #22

Image
Joel:  This WrestleMania marks the fifth time in a row that Triple H has been in a championship match. And in four of these past five WrestleManias, he was in the final match on the card. Even without watching all of the other Pay Per Views in these five years (not to mention Raws and Smackdowns) it’s easy to see where Triple H gets the burying reputation from. And that’s not to say that Triple H’s matches haven’t been good, or that he hasn’t been good in them, (his match here with Cena may have been his best WrestleMania match yet) but still, that’s been a lot of Triple H. All in all though it was a really strong show. Like Triple H, Vince McMahon has his best WrestleMania match to day, though it helps that he’s in the ring with Shawn Michaels here. The triple threat for the Heavyweight title was impressive as well. But the match of the night has to go to Mick Foley and Edge. This for the most part is Foley’s swan song when it comes to real, all out, full intensity hardcore...

The Clashy Ring Attire Wrestlemania Review #X-Seven

Image
Joel:   Let me say up front that the title X-Seven for seventeen is dumb. It has that feel of doing it cause the kids will think it looks cool. It was strange back then, and it’s just as bad now a decade and a half later. Also, the intro video felt off. The past few video packages that started off WrestleMania have been about the history and the prestige of the event itself, and have made the show feel like a big deal. The “Celebration of Life” video package that goes with this WrestleMania feels strangely disconnected from the rest of the show. But other than those two, very small complaints, this WrestleMania is a pretty perfect example of what WrestleMania can be when it reaches its full potential.  This is a moment in wrestling history where the stars aligned just perfectly, and one of the greatest events of all time was pulled off. Rock and Stone Cold, two of the most successful men to ever wrestle were both at the top of their game. TLC had just been introduced ...

The Rager - Royal Rumble Thoughts

Image
Hello once again, my Ragerites, quite a bit has happened in the WWE Universe over the past couple of days so here are my thoughts: Royal Rumble: 1. The World Heavyweight title match was slow but thankfully, Mr. Ziggles made the best of it. You can always tell a wrestler has come into his own when he can carry a match even though the person he's up against seems out of place and terrible (Edge). The match took way too long in my book but hey, I guess that happens when you have 4 matches for a 3 hour show. Anyways, Edge really had no business getting the win and I don't understand why they used Kelly Kelly to jump Vickie, wouldn't it make more sense to use a girl that has had previous storylines with her and Ziggles? (i.e. NXT girl). 2. So if CM Punk and his merry men were going to interfere with the WWE title match then why did we get all the Alex Riley interruptions? I'm really looking forward to the day when they take the training wheels off Miz and let him carry his o...

The Rager - Raw Thoughts 1/24/11

Image
Welcome to everybody's favorite weekly...erm....semi-weekly....ugh...very weakly random thoughts of WWE's Monday Night RAW. 1. I think its interesting that they chose to start off Raw with a Smackdown wrestler. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Edge seems less legit on Raw, it just doesn't fit. 2. Was it just me or did anybody else sense any sexual tension between Edge and the GM laptop? There was just the awkward moment when the email went off and Edge had his "crazy eyes." Which reminds me, I miss the automated voice for the laptop but I understand Michael Cole would lose a lot of his heat if he's not the "voice" of the GM. 3. Speaking of awkward moments, it was weird to see the Nexus face off against the newly formed Corre. The Corre seems to be trying to become the face version of the Nexus and something about it annoys me, they don't really have a reason to exist other than the fact that they're Nexus rejects. And I c...
