Irrelevant But Awesome

This morning, the nominations for the 67th annual Emmy Awards were announced. The full list of nominations is below but first there are a few things worth mentioning in this years crop of nominations. First off, Tatiana Maslany was finally, finally nominated for an Emmy for her work in Orphan Black. It has been, and continues to be, one of the best performances anyone is giving on television today and should be recognized as such. She's been snubbed in the past, but glad to see she's finally getting her due. This will be the last year that past favorites like Mad Men and Parks and Recreation can be nominated for anything, so it's very possible that they will take home a good share of what they've been nominated for as a sort of "thank you" to those shows. Yesterday, Warner Bros. was "forced" to release the trailer for Suicide Squad even though they didn't want to, because footage of the trailer showing at Comic-con had leaked online. In a statement, Sue Kroll, WB's President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution said the following: “Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the  Suicide Squad  footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.” You know what? Once you've gotten into the double digits of viewing numbers on the new Star Wars trailer, it's time to really start breaking the whole thing down, and obsessing about every single frame. So lets get right to it why don't we? The trailer opens up on a long pan shot of a desert planet that we are told is not Tatooine. And we see a crashed X-wing ship as well as a (much larger) crashed Star Destroyer. It should be noted that this is not the updated X-wing we've been seeing in previous promotional material before now (and later in this same trailer) but rather this is a Battle of Endor era X-wing. The same can be said for the Star Destroyer assuming that the giant battleship we see later in this trailer is an updated Star Destroyer.
