The Great West Wing Rewatch: 3.5 "War Crimes"

Joel: I hate that there weren’t more “Big Block of Cheese Day” episodes on this show. It was such a fascinating look at some of the bizarre ideas that can crop up when it comes to the government. (Not necessarily bad ideas mind you, but clearly some that are coming out of left field.) Still, we do occasionally get subplots that would have been worthy of “Big Block of Cheese Day” episodes, and Sam trying to figure out a reason why we can’t eliminate the penny is a good one. It's been nothing but heavy episodes this season, and the same can be said for the last couple of episodes last season, so its nice to see Sam dealing with that can be considered a "light" issue, at least in the grand scheme of things. One that is just off the wall enough that you never would have considered it yourself, but comes with oddly compelling reasons from the person presenting it. It's no "Big Block of Cheese Day," but its something of a small consolation prize.

Chris: The time has finally come to fully dive into the depositions of the investigation of the president withholding his MS from the public and it takes an interesting turn as one of the men questioning Donna in the deposition had seen Donna socially and knew about a diary she keeps (after he had spent time at her apartment). Of course all of this happened before they knew he would be entangled with the investigation but still, it’s an interesting tactic for him to really dive into the journal thing. I want to say that it feels pretty sketchy of Cliff to handle the situation like he did but at the same time, Donna probably should have remembered her diary when the committee asked if she kept one. We a little bit of closure on Josh being mad at Donna for seeing Cliff socially when Josh is more reassuring after they allow Cliff to browse the diary.

A good president picks the team that has more players from Notre Dame
