News Control: Indiana Jones 5 Rumors

Welcome to News Control. Sometimes in the world of Pop Culture, some things that aren't really stories become stories. What should be a very tiny thing somehow ends up splattered on everybody's facebook for three days. This is where News Control comes in. We take a look at all the hype, all the clickbait articles, and really decide if whatever being talked about is real news or not. Take today's story for instance.


There's a good chance you'll see somewhere today news about Indiana Jones 5. This is because in a Vanity Fair story about the new Star Wars movie, Kathleen Kennedy, said that Lucasfilm would one day make another Indiana Jones movie. That's it. That's literally all of the information that has been revealed about Indiana Jones 5, that one day they're going to make it. Seriously, you can read the quote from the article in its entirety below. 

"In buying the company, Disney also got rights, for better or worse, to less-storied Lucasfilm properties, among them Willow and Radioland Murders. A bigger prize is the Indiana Jones franchise. Kennedy confirmed rumors that another Indy movie ‘will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.’"

They don't know when it's going to be made, nobody has even started working on a script yet, there's no indication if Harrison Ford will return to the role, or if they plan to recast the character with a younger actor. Just that they will someday make Indiana Jones 5.

It's hard to really qualify this as news because, really who ever thought that the Indiana Jones franchise was done. Disney payed 4.5 billion dollars for Lucasfilm. Not just Star Wars remember but all of Lucasfilm. That includes Indiana Jones so of course Disney plans to get some money back out of that franchise. Heck, there's probably been discussion of how to continue the Willow franchise at some point.

Yes it's nice to know that in all of this Star Wars whirlwind, Indy hasn't been totally forgotten about, but not knowing when a movie will be made, and not having a script for said movie is not a news story. We've known for a long time that everybody involved wants to make another Indiana Jones movie. But it doesn't seem that they're any closer today than they were yesterday.

Day 5 of Halloween - The Fly (1958)

Jason:  First of all, I hope that everyone watched the right iteration of this film. The one with Vincent Price, not Jeff Goldblum.  Now that we’ve gotten that straight… This movie is considered to be a Halloween cult classic. It doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of scares or terror but it still remains a seasonal favorite. For the time, the make-up effects were decent. The way Andre’s fly head twitches and vibrates makes it look pretty convincing for a 1950’s puppet mask. The story, however, is what is so captivating. I have been reading a lot of Lovecraft stories lately and I couldn’t help but draw a comparison between them and this movie. The plot is very Lovecraftian. Let me explain: The main character is a highly intellectual recluse who spends most of his time in research. He stumbles across some natural secret that ultimately leads to his destruction. The Full Spectrum: Dear Hunter's White EP

The Dear Hunter: White EP The White EP doesn't really resonate with me, to be perfectly honest, not to say it's bad because it isn't but it just doesn't quite click with me. That piano-driven element that I praised so much in Violet makes a return and even gets kicked up a notch but beyond that, aside from the occasional moment here and there, I found White to be a bit bland and boring. However, don't let the color fool you because the lyrics cover some interesting topics such as "No God" which essentially reflects a distrust in any sort of spiritual being that gets the credit for things that people in your life contribute, a theme that carries over into a couple songs in Act IV. I will say this, however they mixed the piano in the intro of "Lost but Not All Gone" deserves an award for making liquid gold, easily the highlight of the White EP.
