The Movies You Need to See Before You Die
I'm a big fan of the book "1001 Movies You Need To See Before You Die." (Link to the Amazon page of the current edition here)In fact, I'm a big fan of almost any list of movies to compare and contrast to you own opinions (after all isn't that why we pour over Top Ten lists at the end of every year) but The bonus of "1001 Movies" is the sheer giant number of movies that the book talks about. That high of a number allows for not only "classic films of artistic merit, but also obscure cult hits, and popular movies as well. Movies like "Clueless," "Independence Day," and "The Hangover have all made the list. But each year as new movies come out, and are added to the list, they must replace other movies, So each new edition of the book misses out on some great films.
For those who are looking for a list of all the movies ever put on the list, not limited by the number on the cover of the book, one has been made here, totaling 1089 films in all. The list even points out what movies are no longer on the official list and what year they were knocked off.
But if that's not enough, every movie on the list that is available on either Netflix instant viewing or Youtube Free Movies has been hyperlinked to the source so that you can start watching some of the greatest moments in cinema without missing a beat. So if you've got some time over the holidays, how about trying out some of the movies linked here. After all, you need to see them all before you die.
