5 Things That Need to Be In the New Super Smash Bros (That Aren't New Characters)

Image
Joel:  Nintendo’s surprise announcement of a new Super Smash Bros . game earlier this year has caused plenty of speculation articles about what exactly could be in the new game. While there’s nothing more than a single announcement trailer about the game (and some are convinced that it’s not actually a new game but a port of the Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U), Super Smash Bros. is a popular enough franchise that there is still plenty to discuss and speculate on. The biggest thing of course is to try and guess what new characters will be in the game or explain why this or that certain character SHOULD be in the game. We’re taking a different approach. While this is a list of five things that need to be in Super Smash Bros. 5 , none of the entries on this list are new fighters. (If this announcement from Nintendo does end up being a port of the most recent Super Smash Bros. game, then you can apply this list for when a fifth game is finally made in the series.) 5. ...

Nintindo reveals new Super Mario Maker Details at E3

Image
I don't have a Nintendo Wii U yet. But I'm going to cave, I just know I am. The first blow was Super Mario 3D World. I only played the game for a few minutes on a friends console, but man that was magical. It's the kind of game that transports you right back to that feeling you got playing your favorite Mario game as a kid (Super Mario 64 for me). The second blow was the new Super Smash Bros. game though I obviously don't need to go into much detail here. If there's a Smash Bros game out there, you need it. Simple enough. The next blow was Splatoon. Again, it was a game that looked fun, but I wanted to wait to see if this game would actually be any good. After all, Nintendo wasn't really known for their shooter games, so maybe I'll wait to see how it turns out. Well it turns out that Splatoon surpassed all of my expectations. More and more it's looking like I'm actually going to need to drop money on one of these.   But it looks like the final ...

Everything You Need to Know About: Splatoon

Image
So It's been about a week since Splatoon hit the store shelves, and you may or may not have noticed that it's been getting a lot of attention. For all of you who have not been on the hype train to Inkopolis for the past year here's everything you need to know: Source The Basics: This is Nintendo's first time treading into the hostile waters of the online shooter genre and the general consensus is that they did a pretty stellar job. Online shooters are fairly straight forward, you play over the internet with other people and shoot each other, but otherwise they're not known for being the most welcoming of games to get into. That's where Splatoon comes in.  The main mode of play is "Turf War" a 4v4, 3 minute match where the goal is to have more ground covered with your team's color of ink at the end than your opponents. This change in the players' goal means it's much easier to make a meaningful difference in the outcome ...

Nintendo World Championship Locations Announced

Image
Back in 1990, Nintendo hosed a special video game competition that was loosely based on the film, The Wizard. It featured a special cartridge that was to be used for that competition only, and featured three different Nintendo games that were popular at the time. The competition was based on scoring the highest number of possible points in the alotted time limit. That unique cartridge has gone on to become a thing of video game legend as only a handful were ever made and they've since gone on to become one of the holy grails of video game collecting, easily selling for several thousand dollars each on the rare occasion that they've gone on sale. But that's another story for another time. What's exciting today is that Nintendo is reviving and updating their World Championship competition for 2015. Eight Best Buy stores have been selected to host the qualifying events for the competition on May 30th. The stores are as follows. 1717 Harrison St. Sa...

Nintendo announces the next Wii. The Wii U

Image
Earlier today, at E3, Nintendo announced among other things, their newest home console. Called the Wii U, Nintendo promised in their presentation that the new console would be both "wider and deeper" than any console in history. What basically this would translate to is that Nintendo is trying to keep the casual gamer that the Wii was so successful with while at the same time trying to recapture the more hardcore gamer audience that has drifted toward Xbox and Playstation in recent years. It was even said in the presentation that "Wii" should be thought of as 'We" to indicate the group experience of playing while the "U" should be thought of as 'You" and the personal experience of the console. Anyway the biggest reveal of the day was the new controller that the console would have. You can also see the controller in action by watching the trailer shown at E3 My first reaction is about how big that thing is. Based on seeing people holding i...
