Between Jedi and The Force Awakens
I'm just going to pretend that the multi year gap in posts never happened. Ok? Ok.
So it's been announced that between now and December when Star Wars VII comes out (we're all very excited, I know) Disney will be releasing a few books that take place in the 30 year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Would you like to guess how many books that is? Three? Five? Nine? Try Twenty.
That's right, a total of twenty books will be released covering the time period between the two trilogies. Now, to be fair that's not twenty full sized novels that are going to come out between now and then. That number includes comics, YA books, and some of those "Guide to the Planets of the Star Wars Universe" type of books. But there are a few that have been announced that will further the brand new cannon that we all have to get used to now. So far one of the titles we know will take place in the post Jedi universe.
Star Wars: Aftermath by Chuck Wendig

This book will be available starting September 4th and looks to be set right after the events of Return of the Jedi. The Death Star is destroyed and rumors of Darth Vader's death are abound, but the Empire hasn't been defeated yet. The book synopsis includes the phrase "A lone rebel scout uncovers a secret Imperial meeting, so we'll have to see what that's about.
Also note the "Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens banner on top of the book. I wonder if that will be on all of the books.
