Irrelevant But Awesome

Joel: Ok, controversial opinion time: The Terminator is better than Terminator 2 . Yes, the second movie will always be known for its stunning visual effects work, and how it pushed the entire film industry forward with what it was able to do, and Terminator 2 is a fantastic movie in it’s own right, there’s no arguing that. But the original film is a tighter, cleaner script, and was able to do more with less. Even if it does have that pesky time loop plot hole that hangs over the entire Terminator franchise. Were Terminator 2 is a bigger movie, the first movie is a great chase movie. It’s not robot fighting better robot, but just a few dumb humans trying to get away, trying to survive, with an impossibly powerful machine of destruction chasing them forever. It’s more tense, it’s more deliberate and it is an incredible, well crafted bit of filmmaking. Again, Terminator 2 is great, and should be enjoyed by everyone. If you haven't kept up with Summer of Netflix thus far, never fear because you can simply join us for the 2nd half of July, we won't tell anybody. But even if you're joining us for the first time or you've religiously watched every movie on every day since the beginning, here's what you have to look forward to for the rest of July!

Pretty impressive? Right? Designer  Michael Talley  was asked by Slate.com to make this diagram with straws in order to try to make some sort of sense of all the different timelines from the five movies in the Terminator franchise. That seems like a pretty daunting task but clearly Talley was up to it. Of course this sort of work is nothing new to Talley as he created a similar diagram for the film Looper (go watch it if you haven't yet, thank me later).
