The Clashy Ring Attire Wrestlemania Review #12

Joel:   So much of this WrestleMania is all about the one match it’s hard to separate the two. In many ways a review of the Iron Man main event match is a review of WrestleMania XII itself. Fortunately, if there’s going to be a pair of wrestlers that put on an hour long main event these are the two. It’s hard to compare this match to other matches because part of the marvel of a 60 minute iron man match is the sheer fact that it’s happening. I will say that even with this clearly being the best possible choice for who you’re putting in your hour long iron man match, it still felt like a very long match. Minute twenty feels like a dark point in this match knowing that there were still forty minutes to go. But still, you have to give this one match of the night. I’ve heard this match described as a four star forty minute match followed by a five star twenty minute match that was put on by the same guys, which is a really accurate way to look at it I feel. SideShowBob:  How did I finally get to see this?  My grandmother showed up with a bootleg on beta.  It was a type of VCR.  Yes the damn thing even had a remote on a wire like I mentioned in the last article... So what do I remember of the build…  For starters, Roddy Piper spent the full year being a total dick to Mr. T wherever they overlapped.  Sometimes they would show up on each other’s sets.  That’s called cross promotion my friends..  Piper on the stick was pure gold antagonizing T, he even shaved a midget, and we got a boxing match out of it, because you know, Clubber Lang…  Also, Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy teamed up under Bobby The Brain Heenan since the last Wrestlemania..  Which led to Bundy “avalanching” (a splash in the corner) Hogan several times, setting up their steel cage match.  There was going to be the debut Wrestlemania match of Jake the Snake Roberts.  George Steele was chasing another “rook...

So here it begins, Chris and Joel from the Classy Ring Attire Podcast and joined forces with their Trashy Ring Attire brethren, Kue and BD, to review every Wrestlemania until we reached Wrestlemania 32 in April. They are joined by a man simply known as "sideshowbob" (Classy Ring Attire listeners might know him as @eviljackalopes on Twitter) who has offered to give a historical aspect as they begin with the first Wrestlemania. Sideshowbob:  As a backstory, the creation of the ‘concept’ of how the first Wrestlemania came to be has been documented better elsewhere.  For this one, let’s face it.  The card is shit and doesn’t hold up to me nowadays.  So I’m going to give a few examples of why this card could’ve worked, and a brief backstory into the (few) angles that were going on…  This is how I remember it, but I was only in 5th grade… For starters: This is March 1985.  Times were far simpler.  There was no Back to the Future.  The Terminat...
