Irrelevant But Awesome

You can’t really write a review about a Marvel movie being good anymore. At this point that’s pretty much expected. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the fifteenth theatrically released movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they’ve all had at least some amount of critical success to say nothing of commercial success for the fra nchise as a whole. So it doesn’t really mean anything at this point to say that Guardians was good, that much is expected at this point. The natural thing to do would be to compare this movie to the first Guardians of the Galaxy from 2014, but that doesn’t seem very fair either. The first movie was a crazy, off the wall idea of a movie. Something that (at the time) looked like it was going to be Marvel’s riskiest move to date, and most of the audience went into it with little to no expectations. Like all of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was necessary to sit through the credits of Ant-Man to get a sneak peak of where Marvel was planning to go, moving forward with their movies. It's becoming more and more common now to not have just one, but two different credit scenes, on in the middle of the credits, and one at the very end. So lets take a look at both of the scenes. Obviously, spoilers for Ant-Man will be in this post. End Scene #1: The mid credit scene is of Hank Pym telling his daughter that he's finally ready for her to take more of an active roll in their field work. Then he reveals a Wasp suit and we end with Hope saying "About damn time." Its fairly straightforward here, and it seems clear that Hope will be suiting up to fight alongside Scott in future Ant-Man movies if there are any (which there probably will be). Principle photography has begun for the next Captain American movie in the Marvel Universe. Fans have been looking forward to this one because it's suppose to be a showdown between Avengers members Iron Man and Captain America with the rest of Shield/Avengers forced to pick sides. With all the new characters introduced in Age of Ultron and new characters on the way within the next year, fans have been wondering exactly who is going to be included. In the past day or two you may have seen something crossing your facebook page or news feed about Tom Hardy looking at playing The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This obviously would cause quite a buzz. The Punisher has been made into a movie three times and three times it has failed to start a Punisher franchise. It would be very exciting for Marvel to look into kickstarting one of their grittier characters and Tom Hardy would be a great casting choice, especially since he's about to star in a big summer blockbuster with Mad Max. But here's the thing. As of right now, Tom Hardy is not up for the role of The Punisher. In fact, Marvel isn't even currently working on a Punisher Franchise. I'm going to try very hard not to bash on DC or Warner Bros here. It will be tricky but at the end of the day, I'm hoping that Batman v Superman is fantastic. I hope that Wonder Woman comes out and is a great movie about the character in her own right. I hope that this is all leading up to a Justice League movie in a few years that will blow everyone's socks off and easily compete with Marvel as a truly great super hero team up film. Several weeks ago, it was announced that after much deliberation and lots of negotiation, a deal has finally been reached that will allow the character of Spider-man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then rumors have been running wild with what the third incarnation of Spider-man in less than ten years was going to be like. Who would be playing him? How soon would he appear? How will Spider-Man factor into the already packed schedule that Marvel has lined up between now and 2020?
