The New Flash Gordon Movie takes a step foward!
It's going to be hard to get audiences in this day and age to take a character like Flash Gordon seriously. Most people, when thinking about the character of Flash are going to picture the character as he is presented in the serials and comics from the 1930s, a very basic, flat character, with really not much in the way of any character devlopment or pathos. Pretty much what a modern day audience member would describe when talking about pulp sci-fi from the 30s. Some might think about his last outing on the big screen in 1980 in a movie that I'm going to describe as delightfully weird, but others might have understandably less kind words about the film. (Though we can all agree that the theme song was AWESOME!) So it's understandable why people might have a hard time taking a "serious" interpretation of this property...well...seriously. Most recently in 2009, there was a serious Flash Gordon TV show on the syfy channel, that lasted a grand total of one season...
