Star Wars Saga Lightsaber battles: Ranked

Image
As we come to the end of May (Star Wars month for me, since all of the movies came out at some point in may, not counting the animated) I have watched the entire saga twice this year. While waiting for information about Celebration VI and Star Wars on Blu Ray, It has helped pass the time. To end the month I’ve decided to take a look at, and rank each lightsaber fight in the six movies. As with any list about Star Wars, this one is ever changing and ever evolving. The order of this list could change by tomorrow, but as of print time this is my order of the best lightsaber fights. Note that to be considered, two opposing lightsabers have to clash. Fights such as Obi-wan in the bar, or Anakin against the Tuskin Raiders don’t count. 13: Luke Vs. Darth Vader (Dagobah) Episode V This one has to start the list as it really hardly counts as a fight. Three clashed of the blade and that’s it. Its brevity and slow motion make it the worst fight of the saga, but really it was never there to be a

Tintin has arrived.

When i was a kid browsing through the shelves of the library, I found a comic book wedged between a couple of Far Side anthologies. Unlike any other comic I had ever read, this wasn't jokes told in a few panels. No, this was page after page all woven together to create one continus, epic story. This was Tintin. If you have never heard of Tintin before now, kindly educate yourself at once. Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Tintin Click some links. Learn a thing or two. Then come back when you can understand why this poster can create such excitement. I simply can not wait to see this movie. And after a few teaser images, the poster looks simply fantastic. Not only is it for a Tintin movie, but it actually looks like a poster I would like to have up on my wall (except for the 3D part but I can get past that) But thats not all the Tintin news we have for today. Not only do we have a poster, but whats more a trailer has premiered on Apple Trailers. While its only

How To Shave Like Your Grandfather

Image
All guys at one point or another have to shave, some more frequent than others. Whether because of an upcoming interview that you want to look polished for or just to have soft cheeks for your significant other, it’s something all guys must face (pun intended). Through high school I shaved the way that’s most common nowadays: with a disposable razor and a can of shaving gel. It was a quick and easy way to get rid of the stubble and get on with the day. Admittedly it wasn’t the smoothest thing and soon afterwards I had red irritation bumps on my neck, but perhaps that was my own fault. When I started going to college, I found a article online that talked about shaving the way they did way back when: with a safety razor, a cake of shaving soap, a mug and a shaving brush. The first time I heard it I thought this sounded like too much trouble, it doubled the items needed to shave and you had to put more effort into working up a lather. After more thought and anothe

Rules for Gentlemen

A few years ago I started watching the show NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service), a criminal investigation TV series focused around Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team of agents who, as the title suggests, investigate crimes involving Naval officers. The show features the aforementioned Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette (who you may recognize from the recent Expedia commercial) and David McCallum (for those of you who were around way back when, he was Illya Kuryakin in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.). The character Gibbs often refers to a list he has made of rules that he and his team must follow to be both better agents and better people. Some apply specifically to their job (Rule #2: Always wear gloves at a crime scene), others are more general tips for life (Rule #12: Never date a coworker) while a few seem to be there to keep his underlings in line (Rule #23: Never mess with a Marine’s coffee if you want to live). It’s said that everyone should compile a

Star Wars Blue Ray Art revealed.

Image
Because yesterday was May the 4th (as in May the fourth be with you) Lucasfilm took the opportunity to reveal some rather big news about the upcoming Star Wars Blue Ray releases, namely the Cover Art. Three images were released, One for the Original Trilogy boxed set, One for the Prequel trilogy, and one for the Complete Saga. The two trilogy packs, as seen below, feature artwork with giant heads of some of the main characters, Darth Vader (for the original trilogy) and Yoda (for the prequel trilogy.) These both remind me a bit of the "big head" boxed set that came out back in the 90s. The Complete Saga art on the other hand surprised me a bit. Take a look. First of all, the art is much more simple than we're used to. Most of the DVD releases in the past have featured very busy pictures featuring several characters, as well as some action scenes or explosions for good measure. In contrast, this picture only has the two main characters one from each trilogy, and a very bar
