Top 30 Muse Songs (25-21)

In celebration of Muse's new album Drones coming out in less than a week on June 8th, we're counting down the top 30 Muse songs. Here's the list so far:

Honorable Mention: The Exo-Genesis Symphony
30. Sunburn
29. Feeling Good
28. United States of Eurasia
27. Cave
26. Bliss

Now let's continue the countdown!

25. Ruled By Secrecy
It's the last song in their Absolution album (which most consider to be Muse's best album as of yet). It's one of my favorites because the 2nd time I saw the band live in 2010, it was my first time in the pit and they played this song about halfway through the set. When they got to "that hit" in the song, it felt like a wall of sound hit me and left a tingly feeling afterwards. It was pretty incredible and I wish there was a way I could recreate that feeling here but you'll have to settle for a youtube video.

24. Apocalypse Please
Another piano-driven song by Muse, this one is at the beginning of the aforementioned Absolution album and if it didn't invoke a riotous feeling within you, then you might wanna get your pulse checked.

23. Starlight
Another song that seems to be experiencing a resurgence in popularity among Muse fans lately, Starlight originally was from the Black Holes and Revelations album and was their closing song for most of their last 2nd Law tour. But because of this song we got one of the coolest videos ever from the 2006 MTV EMAs. It's pretty cool because it starts with American treasure, Justin Timberlake, introducing Muse as the best band in the building and what follows is almost too much for the human eye to handle. The band apparently tried to perform a song in similar fashion in the US but were unable to because there seems to be a law against THAT many lasers going off at once. You'll see what I mean in the video below...

22. Map of the Problematique
I've got no interesting stories or insight on this song, it's just simply a great song!

21. Take a Bow
One of the most dramatic songs I've ever heard and not only in terms of the lyrics but from a musical structure in general. The song is in a constant build from the first note to the last. Starting from a soft pulse building to a ground swell and reach a climax at with a huge, over-the-top, operatic end. Needless to say, it's a pretty incredible spectacle.

Check back tomorrow to see which songs cracked the top 20!
