Nintindo reveals new Super Mario Maker Details at E3

I don't have a Nintendo Wii U yet. But I'm going to cave, I just know I am. The first blow was Super Mario 3D World. I only played the game for a few minutes on a friends console, but man that was magical. It's the kind of game that transports you right back to that feeling you got playing your favorite Mario game as a kid (Super Mario 64 for me). The second blow was the new Super Smash Bros. game though I obviously don't need to go into much detail here. If there's a Smash Bros game out there, you need it. Simple enough. The next blow was Splatoon. Again, it was a game that looked fun, but I wanted to wait to see if this game would actually be any good. After all, Nintendo wasn't really known for their shooter games, so maybe I'll wait to see how it turns out. Well it turns out that Splatoon surpassed all of my expectations. More and more it's looking like I'm actually going to need to drop money on one of these.

But it looks like the final blow that makes me cave is going to be released September this year, Super Mario Maker. Simply put, this "game" is really a level creation tool that gives you everything you need to create your own Super Mario Levels, from power blocks, to koopas to everything in between.

You will be able to choose between four different art styles, Original Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros to get the exact Mario game that existed in your mind when you were a kid no matter what you age is. Not only that, but Mario's abilities will mimick the time period you choose to build a stage in.

All this plus you can play levels built by other people who upload them. (In a brilliant bit of forward thinking, Nintendo will not allow creators to upload unbeatable levels) You can even tag your favorite creators to be notified whenever they have a new level released. Nintindo is not phoning it in on any level when it comes to this game. It would be an easy thing for them to do, just a quick level creator option, something that would be a bonus feature on another game (Portal 2 for example) and call it a whole game, but it really looks like Nintendo is taking this seriously, to make sure that you get the best possible experience out of Super Mario Maker

I'm going to cave. I just know I am.

  1. Hello Bro,
Your game information is awesome and some days age i watching super mario game review.. and i like the merio games...
Super Mario levels from players around the globe. It’s easy enough to create your own levels with the Wii U GamePad controller that it may feel like you’re simply sketching out your ideas on paper, but you can now bring enemies and objects into a playable course in ways you could only consider before. Violate the conventions of traditional Super Mario gameplay by blending enemies, traps and items into unexpected twists, like Piranha Plant-shooting cannons, power-up-tossing Lakitus, or even Hammer Bros. riding on Bowser while bouncing on trampolines.
